After School & Summer Programs

Rhymin’ it Write (RIW) is the Healthy Futures after-school program for middle school students. Using poetry, writing, and other forms of artistic expression, students discuss steps to good decision making, how to set limits and boundaries, and healthy relationships.

RIW is a 10-week after-school program culminating in a final presentation that demonstrates what the students have learned through the program. Each week, students participate in lessons and activities that are designed to complement and reinforce the Nu-CULTURE classroom-based relationship education program.

The objective of RIW is to nurture and develop the leadership potential in each student and empower teens to be leaders in their schools and communities to talk about the benefits of making healthy choices.

Code A is the Healthy Futures summer program for middle school students that compliments the Nu-CULTURE classroom-based relationship education program and further develops the leadership skills of students who participated in RIW.

Teens receive instruction on the basics of improvisational theater and performance preparation. Students work together to develop their own skits and other dramatic presentations to be performed at youth and community events. At the end of the summer program, the teens present their original work in a professional venue.
